Issue 1: Does it really matter where I buy my property in Cyprus?
Yes, it does matter a lot. At the moment Cyprus is currently split into two. Northern Cyprus is governed by Turkey and the rest of the island is under Greek jurisdiction. The Northern area was captured during an invasion in 1974 and is not an internationally recognised government. Greece is a member of the EU and the Greek area is governed by the Cyprus government.
